Posted by Admin | 7 years ago | Filed Under Leadership

There comes a bit of a challenge at every stage in our lives, where we need someone to be of a great motivation to us, someone who has survived such hurdles or even a greater challenge as we are facing and is able to still be on top of the game.

These people have distinguished themselves in various areas and have been able to surmount greater challenges despite negative words that others must have hurled at them. They were valiant when others were too afraid to toll that path. We often find these role models in our immediate family, schools, chosen profession and churches and cling to their wealth of knowledge and spirit.

Role Model Defined

According to, A role model is a person whose behavior, example, or success is or can be emulated by others, especially by younger people.  The term "role model" is credited to sociologist Robert K. Merton, who coined the phrase during his career.  Merton hypothesized that individuals compare themselves with reference groups of people who occupy the social role to which the individual aspires. An example being the way fans (oftentimes youth) will idolize and imitate professional athletes or entertainment artists.
